The recent news that Ukraine has launched long-range missiles into Russian territory marks a dangerous escalation in a conflict that has already devastated the region and threatens to engulf the world. This is not an isolated development; it is the direct result of strategic decisions made by the Biden administration and its NATO allies. For those of us who have been watching closely, this turn of events is not surprising but deeply troubling, especially given the backdrop of NATO's relentless expansion, as detailed in our earlier piece, "NATO Expansion and the Escalating Threat of Global Conflict."
This latest chapter in the Ukraine war raises an unsettling question: Is this about defending democracy, as the Biden administration claims, or is it part of a larger strategy by the global elite to profit from perpetual war while shifting the political fallout to the next administration?
As we argued earlier this year, NATO’s eastward expansion has been the root cause of heightened tensions with Russia. The alliance's original mission—to counter the Soviet Union—became obsolete with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of the USSR. But instead of scaling back, NATO continued to expand, incorporating countries closer and closer to Russia’s borders, breaking verbal agreements made during the Cold War.
This unnecessary expansion, championed by both Democratic elites and some neo-conservative Republicans, has transformed NATO from a defensive alliance into an aggressive provocateur. By enabling Ukraine to launch long-range missiles into Russian territory, NATO has crossed yet another red line. And for what? Certainly not for peace or stability, but rather to further an agenda that benefits the global elite at the expense of ordinary citizens.
The timing of this escalation is deeply suspicious. With the Biden administration now in its final weeks, green-lighting the use of long-range missiles in Ukraine seems like a deliberate political calculation. By ramping up the conflict at the end of his presidency, Biden appears to be solidifying a crisis that his successor, President-elect Donald Trump, will inherit.
This isn’t just reckless; it’s strategic. Biden and his administration can claim they were “standing up to Russia” while knowing full well that the consequences of this decision will land squarely on Trump’s desk. By initiating such a provocative step as his tenure winds down, Biden has effectively handed Trump a geopolitical powder keg. And rest assured, when the inevitable fallout occurs, the media and Democratic operatives will not hesitate to lay the blame at Trump’s feet, ignoring entirely who set the stage for escalation.
Trump, who has been clear about his preference for de-escalation and diplomacy, now faces the daunting challenge of untangling a situation deliberately complicated by Biden's last-minute maneuvers. The outgoing administration’s decision not only exacerbates global tensions but also ensures that Trump will be navigating this crisis under relentless scrutiny, with no acknowledgment of the outgoing administration's role in creating it. It’s a cynical move, emblematic of the kind of political gamesmanship that prioritizes optics over global stability.
It’s no coincidence that every major escalation in Ukraine coincides with increased profits for the defense industry. The global elite, both Democrats and neo-con Republicans, are heavily invested—financially and politically—in keeping this conflict alive. Companies like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman are seeing their stock prices soar as the Biden administration approves more military aid, including these long-range missiles.
Meanwhile, ordinary Americans are struggling under record inflation, skyrocketing energy prices, and an uncertain economic future. The same elites who lecture us about “defending democracy” are the ones profiting from a war that could spiral into a nuclear conflict. It’s a cynical, calculated game where the only winners are the politicians, defense contractors, and global financiers who benefit from endless war.
Why would the Biden administration and its allies risk global conflict? Because war is not just profitable—it’s a distraction. A hot war in Eastern Europe diverts attention from domestic failures, from the crisis at the southern border to rising crime and economic stagnation. It also serves to consolidate power under the guise of “national security,” with governments using the conflict to justify expanded surveillance, increased military budgets, and restrictions on free speech.
This isn’t just speculation. History shows us that war has always been a convenient tool for the ruling class to tighten its grip on power. The global elite thrive in times of chaos, and they are more than willing to sacrifice lives and stability if it means securing their political and financial dominance.
If Biden’s long-range missile decision turns out to be the tipping point that draws NATO deeper into the Ukraine conflict, the next administration will inherit a crisis of unprecedented proportions. Trump, who has consistently advocated for de-escalation and diplomacy, would face a near-impossible task: disentangling the U.S. from a war that the media and the global elite will insist on framing as a moral imperative.
And make no mistake: the media will ensure that any attempt by Trump to scale back U.S. involvement will be spun as “abandoning Ukraine” or “appeasing Russia.” The same voices who cheered Biden’s escalation will conveniently forget who created the mess in the first place.
Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles inside Russian territory is not just a tactical escalation; it’s a dangerous step toward global war. It’s the product of NATO’s decades-long provocation and the Biden administration’s reckless, profit-driven foreign policy. And it’s a stark reminder of how the global elite manipulate international conflicts for their own gain.
If we are to avoid a catastrophic confrontation, the next administration must take immediate steps to reverse course. That means rethinking NATO’s role, prioritizing diplomacy over provocation, and putting the interests of ordinary Americans ahead of the defense industry and global elite.
The American people deserve leaders who will pursue peace, not endless war. Unfortunately, under the current administration, it seems war is the priority—and the profits and political cover it provides are too enticing for the ruling class to resist.
