Tampa Bay Buccanneers’ quarterback Tom Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl winner, invoked the rage of the Left after he arrived maskless at the Raymond James Stadium in Florida on Sunday. The Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs with an ending score of 31-9. Brady has also been criticized recently for not wearing a mask after his team beat the Green Bay Packers in the January 24th championship game, as well as for his support of Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
The Left strongly criticizes Brady. Seattle reporter David Kroman tweeted, “Considering everything happening in that stadium I doubt this actually matters but a dude as famous as Tom Brady should just do the right thing and wear a mask. I think I have to turn off this game. It’s making me angry.” Lisa Hendricks, a gun-control advocate, commented, “”Tom Brady could have used his platform to wear a mask and be a role model for responsible behavior. But nooooooo, he had to be a maskhole.”
“By refusing to mask up, Brady is saying that he either doesn’t believe in science or that he sees himself as different from the pack. The rules of the pandemic don’t apply to him…In putting Brady on a pedestal, then, we are collectively saying that his ability to play ball eclipses what he represents.”Hannah Selinger, Freelance Journalist
Meena Harris, the niece of Vice President Kahala Harris, commented, “What’s Tom doing without a damn mask?”
The Right supports Brady. Conservative site Washington Watch noted, “To be clear, no one thinks that Brady is sick or is spreading illness or contracting it, given that COVID testing is particularly rampant in the NF. They think that he should wear the mask purely for show.” Christina Sommers, philosopher, author, and resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, responded to Lisa Hendricks’ tweet with, “I found Karen.” Actor Kevin Sorbo also responded, “He used his platform. You just didn’t get the message.”
