FACTS
The Seahawk’s head coach Pete Carroll was fined $100,000 by the NFL after violating face mask requirements at the game against the New England Patriots on Sunday. Carroll was one of three coaches, including the San Francisco 49ers‘ Kyle Shanahan and the Denver Broncos’ Vic Fangio, who were fined Sunday for going maskless or ignoring face-covering rules. Raiders’ coach Jon Gruden and Saints’ coach Sean Payton were fined on Tuesday, as well. Additionally, each of the teams was fined $250,000. NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent sent out a memo last week notifying coaches and any other non-players that they must “wear face coverings at all times.”
“Failure to adhere to this requirement will result in accountability measures being imposed against offending individuals and/or clubs.”

RIGHT
The Right balks at the fines. One tweet read: “Massive fines for NFL coaches not wearing face masks on sideline. Aren’t they already cleared for Covid? The death of common sense is upon us.” Another stated, “So the @NFL fines coaches, but players are hitting and breathing all over each other. #covid #hypocrisy continues!”
The NFL allows players to tackle each other without masks on but then issues $1M+ in fines when coaches don’t wear masks on the sideline.

Wait… is the government running the NFL now?https://t.co/5phtxa2SXc
LEFT
The Left agrees with the fines. Twitter showed numerous threads suggesting that the NFL donate the money to Covid research and relief. One tweet said, “The President tells people they don’t need a mask. The NFL fines people for not wearing a mask. Maybe the NFL should lead the country. My guess, 200k people would still be alive.”
In same way all coaches need a Get Back guy to keep from roaming onto the field and getting flagged, it appears they might now frequently need a Mask Up guy to keep from getting fined.
