FACTS
In a move that has sparked quite the response, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi got her hair done in a San Francisco salon on Monday. Prior to a recent update, salons have been closed altogether since March due to the coronavirus. Despite a new September 1st order allowing San Francisco salons to provide outdoor services only, the salon communicated to her that the city was allowing one customer in the salon at a time.
“The speaker complied with the rules as presented to her by this establishment.”
Drew Hammill, spokesperson for Pelosi
Pelosi refused to apologize for her visit despite the outcry, instead claiming it was the salon who owed her one for “setting her up.”
RIGHT
The Right is outraged. “Hypocrite,” “arrogant,” “crazy,” and ” b****” are some of the adjectives that have been used to describe Pelosi regarding the incident. “Rules for thee, but not for me,” said one Twitter user. Owner of eSalonSF Erica Kious said Pelosi’s visit was a “slap in the face,” adding, ““I have been fighting for six months, for a business that took me 12 years to build, to reopen.”
“Speaker Pelosi has pushed policies that would keep our economy closed and our small businesses shut down. But for herself. A salon visit whenever she pleases.”
Senate Republicans Twitter post
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem invited Kious to move her salon to a “state that respects Freedom and won’t shut you down.”
Crazy Nancy Pelosi is being decimated for having a beauty parlor opened, when all others are closed, and for not wearing a Mask – despite constantly lecturing everyone else. We will almost certainly take back the House, and send Nancy packing!

LEFT
Some on the Left agree that her actions are two-faced, but others call out what they say is the Rights’ hypocrisy.
“For a minute I was worried that maybe they had a tape of [Pelosi] hugging Dictators, or blackmailing The Pres. of Ukraine, or bragging about rape, or trying to subvert justice, or outing whistleblowers, but nope. Hair salon.”
Elayne Boosler, comedian and animal activist
Executive Director for the progressive organization Demand Justice remarked that the situation is just the “latest example of double standards for female electeds.” However, CNN Editor-at-large Chris Cillizza admitted that her visit was a “massive gift-wrapped present” for Trump’s campaign.
