FACTS
During protests in St. Louis, Missouri on Tuesday night, a retired Missouri police captain, David Dorn (77 years old) was shot and killed by looters outside of Lee’s Pawn and Jewelry. The shooting was recorded live on Facebook and witnesses said they were “sickened” by the footage and the fact that no one attempted to help Mr. Dorn. Mr. Dorn’s wife has explained that her husband was a friend of the owner of the pawnshop, and went to the scene in response to the fact that the alarm was set off by looters. Mr. Dorn was an African American man.
Our highest respect to the family of David Dorn, a Great Police Captain from St. Louis, who was viciously shot and killed by despicable looters last night. We honor our police officers, perhaps more than ever before. Thank you! pic.twitter.com/0ouUpoJEQ4

LEFT/RIGHT:
There have been bi-partisan calls to end the violence that has accompanied many of these protests. Some on the Right were critical of Left-wing outlets for initially failing to cover this story. CNN and other Left-wing media outlets did cover the story after President Trump tweeted about Mr. Dorn’s murder. A viral Facebook post notes that at least 4 black police officers or former police officers have been shot during the protests. Three of those officers have unfortunately passed away. Many on the Right have called into question the utility of these protests when more African Americans have been killed during the protests, than from the situation that actually launched the protests.
A true public servant. Protecting & serving all the way to the end. None of us who knew you are surprised you went out fighting at Lee's Pawn this morning. God speed my friend. #DavidDorn pic.twitter.com/i9X7q9hKIc
