The Atlantic published an article last week which stated, according to four anonymous sources, that President Trump has repeatedly degraded and belittled fallen soldiers in both word and action. Atlantic editor-in-chief and author of the article Jeffrey Goldberg wrote, among other things, that Trump skipped a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in a 2018 trip to Paris because he “did not believe it important to honor American war dead.” The article continued, stating that Trump asked, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.”
“Trump’s insistence that he would never say anything disparaging about a military veteran or the military more generally is belied by, well, facts.”Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large
It is pointed out that even right-winged Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin confirmed the accounts. Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden stated “I’ve just never been as disappointed in my whole career with a leader that I’ve worked with, president or otherwise.” The Left believes the article will help win over military members and their families for Biden come November. Goldberg insisted that media outlets are regularly forced to “use anonymous sources, especially in a climate where the president of the United States tries to actively intimidate.”
If you’re still wondering if Trump could call our Veterans “losers” and “suckers” then this is a video you must see. Here Trump calls John McCain a loser for being a POW.— MuslimMarine (@mansoortshams) September 5, 2020

The Right is skeptical of the article’s claims and defends the president. Both National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo rejected the accusations against the president as false, and Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper stated, “President Trump has the highest respect and admiration for our nation’s military members, veterans and families.” President Trump called the accusations disgraceful and unthinkable.
“This report is false. President Trump holds the military in the highest regard. He’s demonstrated his commitment to them at every turn: delivering on his promise to give our troops a much needed pay raise, increasing military spending, signing critical veterans reforms, and supporting military spouses. This has no basis in fact.”Alyssa Farah, White House spokesperson
